Frequently asked questions

The questions that actually come up, grouped by who’s asking

A teacher and a parent ask different questions about the same platform. Pick your tab below. If something isn’t answered here, the contact form is at the bottom.

Yes, for the whole of 2026. There’s no credit card requirement, no trial period and no usage cap. After that we’ll publish a teacher tier well in advance; we won’t change the deal mid-year.

No. The quiz builder is a web form: type the question, add options, mark the right answer, save. The online-class scheduler asks for a topic, a time and the class to invite. Most teachers publish their first quiz within 20 minutes of logging in.

The tutor is grounded against a curated knowledge base of 451+ study documents tagged by topic, plus the questions you yourself publish. It tries to stay inside that scope rather than answering from the open internet. If a student asks something out of scope, it says so rather than guessing.

Six things, all on by default: tab and window detection, screenshot blocking, randomised question and option order, per-question timer, AI tutor disabled inside the quiz, and auto-submission on disconnect. The fair-play page goes into more detail.

If you want to, yes. There are four routes: paid quizzes, paid webinars, a tutoring marketplace, and a content library. All of them are admin-verified and settled weekly via UPI in India. Monetisation is opt-in. The platform is fully usable without it.

The class roster from your physical class becomes the invite list for your online class. Attendance is captured automatically from join and leave events. Recordings stay tied to the same class, so absent students can catch up.

Quizzes and study materials you author can be exported as a portable archive. School-specific student data stays with the school, as you’d expect. We don’t hold your authored content hostage.

The web app is mobile-responsive for everything except heavy quiz authoring (where a keyboard helps). Native iOS and Android apps cover attendance, ratings, chat and announcements. Most teachers do quiz authoring on a laptop and grading on the phone.

No. You can sign up directly at cherimathlab.com without a school invite. If your school is on the platform, you can also link your account to their class for graded quizzes. Both modes work side by side.

Free for every student through 2026. We’ll announce the 2027 plan well before December 2026. Anything you’ve earned on the platform (XP, certificates, dashboard history) stays with your account regardless.

No. Your conversations with the AI tutor are not used for model training, and we don’t sell or share your personal data with third parties. The privacy posture page covers this in more detail.

No. The AI tutor is unavailable while you’re inside a graded quiz. It comes back as soon as you submit. During practice and the problem of the day, the tutor is available and gives hints rather than full solutions.

It blends three things: recent quiz scores, accuracy on adaptive practice in the last fortnight, and topic coverage relative to your stated next big test. The dashboard explains the breakdown when you tap the score, so it’s never just a magic number.

The session pauses and tries to reconnect. Cross-device resume means you can pick it up from your phone if your laptop disconnects. If reconnection fails, you can ask for a rematch without it counting as a loss.

Direct messages are private by default. Parents can’t see them. Admins don’t see them in their normal admin view either. Access only opens up under a documented abuse-investigation flow with a logged justification.

The Help button at the top of the dashboard opens an in-app help guide. If that doesn’t cover your issue, the support form sends a ticket directly to our team. Most replies arrive within a day.

Honest answer: most schools don’t need to switch their ERP wholesale. The pilot starts with the academic-engagement piece (quizzes, online classes, the parent portal experience) so you can compare side by side without ripping out fees and HR. We design for coexistence first, replacement later if it earns it.

Roughly four to six weeks from the discovery call to the measurement workshop. The how-to-onboard page walks through each phase. The honest answer is that the calendar time depends on how quickly your pilot teachers can free up the two hours we need in week 1.

The pilot itself is free. The cost is the time of your sponsor, two or three teachers and your IT lead, which we estimate at roughly fifteen person-hours total over four weeks. If the pilot doesn’t work for your school, we close the loop honestly and you keep the pilot data we pulled.

The three tiers (₹2,000 / ₹5,000 / ₹10,000 per month) are flat fees by feature set, not per student. A school with 200 students and a school with 2,000 students on the same tier pay the same monthly amount. On-premises and private-cloud are priced separately and are a conversation rather than a sticker.

Yes. Schools that need to pin their data to India can be provisioned on our India-resident database cluster. The same option exists for the UAE. Other regions on request. The residency is part of the contract rather than a runtime toggle, so it’s explicit.

Out of the box: Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 for SSO, Razorpay for payments (India), Tally for accounts export, and a small set of biometric and RFID readers commonly seen in Indian schools. Anything else can be discussed; we’ll be honest about whether it’s a small or a large piece of work.

Every school can export its full data at any time as standard CSV/JSON files. For schools that want stronger guarantees, we offer a code-escrow option on the on-premises tier. We’d rather have an honest conversation about this than pretend it isn’t a question worth asking.

A sponsor (principal or VP academics), two or three pilot teachers, an IT lead and an admin-office contact. The how-to-onboard page lists exactly what we ask of each. Total time investment for the school is roughly fifteen person-hours over four weeks.

No. The parent portal works in any modern browser. There’s a native mobile app if you prefer, but it’s not required. Most parents use the browser version on their phone for occasional check-ins and switch to the app if they want push notifications.

You decide. Notifications are off by default for everything except things the school flags as important (a fee due date, a major exam result). You can turn additional channels on or off per category from your profile.

You can see the same dashboard summary your child sees: quiz scores, attendance, fees, online-class attendance, certificates and progress trends. You don’t see private direct messages between your child and a teacher, by design. The school can configure what else is visible to parents.

You see the dues for each child, click pay, choose UPI, card or netbanking, and the receipt arrives in your portal and your email. Reconciliation against the school’s records is automatic. There’s no separate trip to the office.

Card and bank details are handled by our payment gateway (Razorpay in India), which is PCI-DSS compliant. We don’t store your card numbers on our side. Receipts and the fee history you see in the portal are encrypted at rest.

One unified view per child. The dashboard shows progress across all subjects in one place; you don’t need to chase each teacher separately. If you have more than one child at the school, you switch between them at the top of the dashboard.

Yes, in the Premium tier and above. Direct chat with a teacher is private (the school’s admins don’t see the body of the message in their normal view). Teachers can set quiet hours so messages outside school hours don’t buzz them at home.

The school is the data controller, so the request goes through them. Once they approve it, your child’s personal data is deleted from active records and from backups within the standard retention window. We can walk a school admin through the steps if they haven’t handled a request like this before.
